GREEN BAY – When Nsight/Cellcom Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer Mark Naze talks about his college experience and career, he starts off talking about a teen that was unsure of the career he wanted to pursue.
“Being 18, I did not know what I wanted to do with my life,” said Naze.

The Algoma High School grad thought about attending another technical college over 100 miles to the south, but a group of his friends decided to attend NWTC. Nsight/Cellcom CFO Mark Naze

He enrolled at NWTC and began what would become a successful education and professional career.
Now, Naze has been named the recipient of the 2016 NWTC Distinguished Alumni Award.

The NWTC Alumni Association chose Naze, who graduated from the College’s Accounting program, for his individual accomplishments and strong community involvement.

“There have been so many graduates from NWTC over the years, and so many people doing so many great things with their degrees, I am truly honored and humbled to be chosen for this award,” said Naze.

After graduating from NWTC in 1982, Naze went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from St. Norbert College. It was his instructors at NWTC, he says, who prepared him for his accounting career.

“The instructors at NWTC had real world practical skills, which left an impact on my career to this day,” he said.
In 1984, he started working as an accountant at a Pulaski landline telephone company, Northeast Telephone Company, which is known today as Nsight and is the parent company of Cellcom, Nsight Telservices, and Nsight Tower.

“When the company entered the cellphone business, in 1986, I had no idea how big it would become,” said Naze. “In hindsight it sounds funny, but when we started Cellcom, we had no idea how it would evolve into the scope of services that are offered today or the integral role our products would eventually play in our daily lives.”

The cellphone business became a success. During his time with Nsight/Cellcom, Naze has watched the company grow from 25 to over 750 current employees with over $300 million in revenue.

“We got involved very early on in cellular service in Northeast Wisconsin, which provided a lot of growth and opportunity for me,” said Naze. In 2003, he was named CFO of Nsight.

“NWTC gave me my foundation. It is the place where I grew up. I figured out what I wanted to do with my life at NWTC, because I had no clue after high school,” said Naze.

“Mark is an outstanding example of what NWTC has to offer," said Karen Smits, NWTC vice president of advancement. “His achievements and dedication to the community prove that a technical college education is a foundation for success.”

Naze plays an active role in the community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Civic Symphony of Green Bay and the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity. He is also active in programs at St. Willebrord Parish and YMCA.

In his spare time, Naze enjoys going to the YMCA, listening to music, and traveling with his wife, Elizabeth.

Naze will be recognized at the NWTC Alumni Awards Reception on November 15, 2016 at Lambeau Field from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. All NWTC Alumni are invited to attend. Contact Ashley Noel for more information, or (920) 498-5713.
