Are you a problem-solver? Do you like making things faster, safer and better? You might make a good engineer—and the Engineering Open House is designed to help you find out more.

NWTC, four-year colleges and area employers will hold the annual Engineering Open House on Thursday, Feb. 25 at NWTC.

The event will showcase careers in engineering and 17 engineering-related degree programs. It is intended for anyone interested in engineering careers, from middle school to adult, plus their families and friends.

This year includes the unveiling of NWTC’s newest engineering degree. The two-year Biomedical Electronics Technology program prepares students to work as technicians in medical facilities or medical equipment manufacturing firms in development, maintenance, testing, and field service.

What to see, who you'll meet

Visitors can drop in from 5 to 7 p.m. (no need to pre-register). See working robots, meet instructors and students and watch demonstrations. Student Services staff will be available to discuss admissions, 2+2 transfer agreements between NWTC and university engineering programs, and career services. Refreshments will be served.

Area employers participate as well, to describe local engineering careers and meet prospective students one-on-one. Hundreds of high-tech, high-paying jobs in these fields are open in Northeast Wisconsin each year, and the supply of skilled engineers and technicians has not kept pace with rising demand.

17 engineering fields included

NWTC offers engineering-related degrees in fields like automation, prototyping, energy, civil, architecture, maritime and environmental engineering technology. The open house is held each year during National Engineers Week to encourage talented students to pursue engineering-related education.

When and where

The Engineering Open House will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 in the Manufacturing Technology Center at NWTC-Green Bay. The event is free and open to the public.. Join us!
