Prototype and Design Bench

Prototype and Design students from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College use their time in the classroom to honor late Green Bay Planner Dale Preston.

They designed and built a compass rose shaped bench in Preston's memory, which sits outside the Jack Day Environmental Center in Green Bay along the mouth of the Fox River.

The students spent over a year working on the project, in collaboration with Brown County Port & Resource Recovery, City of Green Bay, Habitat for Humanity Restore Green Bay, KI, NEW Water, and N.E.W. Plastics. They chose the nautical design to honor Preston’s passion for sailing and the water. Parts of the bench are made from recycled concrete, plastic and granite.
