NWTC co-sponsors mental health summit for veterans

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is among the sponsors of the 2014 Northeast Wisconsin Warrior Summit, held October 7, 2014 at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Green Bay. The event aims to address the mental health needs of veterans and their families through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and breakout sessions featuring clinical professionals, support providers and veteran perspectives.

Keynote speakers include Dr. Michael McBride, psychiatrist and veteran, and John Maino, a local TV and radio personality.

A veterans panel will discuss specific real life issues with attendees, and breakout session topics include: Veterans Treatment Court, Native American Veterans of America, Military Culture for Clinicians, Suicide Prevention Among Veterans and Service Members, Agencies Advocating for Veterans, Homeless Veterans, Poly Trauma/PTSD, Reintegration into Civilian Life, AODA/Substance Abuse, Mental Health, and Family / Caregiver support to a veterans.  

Between 20 and 30 vendors will also provide information on support services to the expected 300 veterans in attendance.
