Tiffany S Part-time Dental Assistant Clinician
What I do at NWTC and how long I’ve been here:
My title at NWTC is Part-Time Dental Assistant Clinician and I have been in this position since September 2013.
How my work relates to student success:
The Dental Assistant Program in coordination with NEW Community Clinic has a limited dental restorative clinic on Tuesdays. This clinic is a great learning experience for our students who are the primary dental assistants to the area dentists who volunteer in our clinic. As the Dental Assistant Clinician I coordinate the clinic by enlisting three to four area dentists for each Tuesday, scheduling patients, ordering supplies, managing inventory and being available to help the students, staff and dentists if there are any questions throughout the day. The students also go to dental offices throughout the semester to get additional hands-on experience. I work with the students and the dental offices to coordinate the dates and times the student will be in these offices. I am also the point of contact for all patients and dental offices of the dentists who volunteer and the offices that the students go to for affiliation.
Why I love coming to work at NWTC:
I love coming to work at NWTC because as a past graduate from the Dental Assistant Program it is satisfying to work with these students. I feel like I understand them and can relate with them and that drives me to succeed for them as much as for myself.
What makes working at NWTC unique:
Working at NWTC is unique because it seems like a very large place but is really a small family like community where everyone has the same objective. To help our students succeed in the career path they choose.
