Showcasing the talents of students in their skilled trades with annual Masters of Their Craft competition

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College's Marinette Campus is proud to announce its annual Master of Their Craft competition, taking place throughout the month of April. This event celebrates the talents and skills of students pursuing careers in trades and engineering, providing a platform for them to showcase their technical prowess among peers, industry professionals, and the wider community.

“The Master of Their Craft is a highly anticipated annual event for both our students and College! This event is designed to foster camaraderie among the programs, while showcasing the accomplishments and skills of our students in their chosen fields. The passion and dedication of everyone involved is beyond inspiring!” said Cindy Bailey, Dean of NWTC Marinette Campus.

The competitions will unfold over the course of April, concluding in an awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the NWTC Marinette Campus’ Event Center.

The schedule for Master of Their Craft entails:

Electro-Mechanical & Automation Engineering Technology Wiring Challenge on April 9: Automation Engineering Technology and Electro-Mechanical Technology students will compete in a live Automation Wiring Challenge led by instructor, Jesse LaBrosse. The event will start at 11:30 a.m., and the public is welcome to come and view this competition.

Plasma Design Challenge on April 15-19: Welding students, mentored by NWTC instructors, Tom Topper and Curt LaChapelle, will participate in a Plasma Design Challenge. Students will design a project using the plasma welding process. A panel of industry leaders will judge the projects on April 16 at 2:00 p.m.

Machine Tool Competition on April 22-23: Students of NWTC’s Machine Tool Program will showcase their skills on a selected project that showcase what they learned in the program. A panel of industry leaders will judge the projects on April 23 at 2:00 p.m.

All student projects will be on display at NWTC’s Events Center and Student Lounge through the awards ceremony.

Winners of each competition will be announced on NWTC Marinette Campus' social channels on April 30, following the awards ceremony.
