First class to be held March 16-18, Green Bay campus

(Green Bay) Northeast Wisconsin Technical College has amplified its popular digital media technology training by becoming an Apple Authorized Training Center (AATC) – allowing NWTC students and industry professionals to get a step ahead in the ever-competitive job market.

“Apple training and certification proves that you accomplished what is needed to be considered one of the best,” said Pat Saxe, Digital Media Technology and Apple certified instructor. “This is a special group; one that is respected in the field and sought after for employment. Certified users can compete for a more skilled level of occupation in their field.”

As only the third AATC in the state, the college will deliver the Apple Certified training that is exclusively offered at AATCs. First up for NWTC is an intro to Final Cut Pro, a video editing course to be offered next month. NWTC also plans to deliver Apple certification curriculum for other Professional Applications (ProApps), including Logic Pro and Aperture, and for consumer applications such as iLife and iWork; NWTC will also offer testing opportunities for these and other Apple products.

While NWTC currently offers other Apple training, becoming an AATC means the college is now recognized and endorsed as meeting Apple’s highest standards. Saxe sees the Apple Certified training as a win-win for both employers and employees in Northeast Wisconsin.

“Our Digital Media Technology program has been approached by many businesses looking for qualified workers in this evolving field. With the additional Apple certification, our grads will be highly sought after for these types of positions,” said Saxe, “Plus, businesses always need to keep up with technology and training. By having Apple certified workers on board, these businesses will be able to show clients their desire to stay current and competitive.”

Apple certified classes and testing will be offered on a regular basis throughout the year in NWTC’s Digital Media Technology Lab, an up-to-date learning environment that includes new Mac Pro systems, large LED displays, and a fiber optic connected Xsan server.
