Artist reception to be held January 21, NWTC Art Gallery, Green Bay campus
(Green Bay, Wis.) “An Up North State of Mind” by Mary Rypel Anderson is the latest exhibit at the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Art Gallery – running now through February 22. The 40-piece display of impressionistic paintings illustrates the artist’s love of the natural world.
“‘North of the tension line,’ a phrase you’ve no doubt heard of, but where is it and what does it mean? It certainly helps to head north to find it, but it can be as near as a quiet spot on the lakeshore of Green Bay,” Rypel Anderson said. “For me if refers to any place away from the city, a place where the pressures and tensions of modern life fall away. I’ve painted in forests, farm fields, ditches, and rowboats. It brings me peace. This is a true escape and a vivid mental experience as well.”
Rypel Anderson’s award-winning impressionistic artwork has appeared around the state, nationally, and in print. She is a signature member of the Water’s Edge Artists, an “alliance of plein air artists dedicated to the conservation and protection of water resources in the Lakeshore Basin of northeastern Wisconsin.”
