 Youth Options

Youth Options provides greater learning opportunities for qualified high school juniors and seniors. If you are considering a technical career, wish to begin college early, or want to prepare to enter the workforce immediately after high school graduation, you will be interested in Youth Options.

Youth Options allows you to take post-secondary (college-level) classes at NWTC. You do not pay for these classes if your high school board determines the classes are not comparable to classes offered by the high school. If approved by the high school board, the student will receive both high school and post-secondary credit for successfully completed classes.

A student who has completed 10th grade; is in good academic standing as determined by the high school; does not have a record of disciplinary problems; and does not meet the statutory definition of a "child-at-risk" may participate in the Youth Options program.

Application forms are available from your high school's counseling office or from NWTC.

  • You will meet with your high school counselor to discuss how Youth Options classes will fit into your high school schedule.
  • You must obtain your parent's or guardian's signature on the application.
  • With the assistance of your high school counselor, you will make course selection(s) and submit those choices to your school board by March 1 for the fall semester or October 1 for the spring semester.
  • The signed forms with approved classes listed MUST be submitted to NWTC by May 15 for the fall semester or November 15 for the spring semester.
  • After the submission deadline, NWTC will contact you to meet with a representative prior to registration.
  • Summer session courses are not eligible for the Youth Options Program.

You will find many choices available on all three campuses, through Interactive Television (ITV), Technical College of the Air (TCA) , or the Internet.

Any Associate Degree or Technical Diploma course may be taken, as long as all prerequisites and corequisite requirements are met.

The Youth Options Program is offered through the Green Bay, Marinette and Sturgeon Bay Campuses and all NWTC Regional Learning Centers.
