General College courses have been developed to occur within a thin layer between Basic Education and General Education or Program courses. Students may apply financial aid to the tuition--please consult a counselor regarding financial aid options. These courses cannot be utilized toward program requirements and exist for the purpose of Preparing learners to SUCCEED in college. They were developed to help students prepare for a program or to help with skills while in a program.
Course DESCRIPTIONS
10-831-103 Intro to College Writing-- introduces basic principles of composition, including organization, development, unity, and coherence in paragraphs and multi-paragraph documents.
10-835-103 Study Skills-- provides learners with strategies to develop study sills for success in college. Through hands-on experiences, learners will apply study skills, learn how to think critically, and use information resources and technology.
10-835-105 College Success & Study Skills-- provide learners with strategies to develop skills for success in college and to apply self management techniques, explore resource management strategies, practice study skills, and ways to improve personal effectiveness.
10-838-105 Intro to Reading &Study Skills-- provides opportunities to develop study skills and expand reading skills--comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary skills--and apply skills to academic tasks and to acquire information from a variety of sources.
10-838-104 Intro to College Reading-- provides learners with opportunities to develop and expand reading skills including comprehension and vocabulary. Learners apply reading skills to academic tasks and read to acquire information from a variety of sources.
10-804-103 Fundamentals of College Math-- prepare students to succeed in math. Topics include whole numbers, integers, solving equations, problem solving strategies, fractions and mixed numbers, decimals, ratios, proportions, percents and applied problems.
