Traffic Safety - Point Reduction

The Traffic Safety School Program is a highway safety initiative aimed at reducing the number of traffic violations and crashes in Wisconsin.

The Traffic Safety School Program is a valuable educational intervention for any driver. Most attendees to the program have a record of high-risk driving and have accumulated points on their driving record. Students who successfully complete the Traffic Safety School Program may be eligible to receive a three-point reduction from their driving record.

Group Dynamics

Group Dynamics is a Wisconsin highway safety initiative aimed at assisting first-time OWI (operating while intoxicated) offenders in changing their impaired driving behavior. Students monitor their alcohol or other drug use or abstinence throughout the course and have many opportunities to self-assess their current use patterns. Students also complete a Personal Change Plan to help them avoid future problems with impaired driving.

Multiple Offender

Wisconsin highway safety initiative aimed at assisting individuals who have received two or more OWIs (operating while intoxicated) in changing their impaired driving behavior.

Students examine the reasons why they did not successfully change behavior after the first OWI. They monitor their alcohol or other drug use or abstinence throughout the course, self-assess their current substance use patterns and explore alternatives, and learn and apply a variety of coping strategies to help them avoid future high-risk substance use. Students also complete a Personal Change Plan to help them avoid future problems with impaired driving.

Juvenile AODA Education

Juvenile AODA Education is intended to reduce high-risk behavior and promote positive decision making among underage violators of Wisconsin’s alcohol and other drug-related laws.

The program is provided statewide by the Wisconsin Technical College System. Participants receive information about short- and long-term effects of alcohol and other drugs on the mind and body, Wisconsin laws and consequences related to alcohol and other drug use and signs of use and addiction. Students examine their personal values and strengthen goal-setting and decision-making skills. They write a specific, realistic personal plan for avoiding future problems with alcohol and other drugs.
