 Law Enforcement Academy

The NWTC Law Enforcement Academy is focused on one goal: providing a thoroughly competent and confident officer to Wisconsin Law Enforcement Agencies. This full-time, 13-week, 520-hour academy serves our state by training newly hired officers as well as those aspiring to become officers. Students will be required to take an additional 54 hour, 2 credit fitness class, as part of the academy.

The Academy also welcomes self-sponsored individuals who are able to pass a rigorous admissions protocol that includes a background investigation, physical ability testing, drug screening and personal interview (and reading/writing test, where appropriate). This will allow those who are admitted to train safely and to a high level of performance as expected by potential employers.

State-of-the-art training

Attendees receive training in "state-of-the-art" procedures using the latest in facilities and technology. Our academy is operated in such a manner that students not only learn the many skills of modern-day law enforcement, but also practice and demonstrate these skills using realistic environments. The level of realism afforded by our recent building and technology expansions is unmatched anywhere, thus enabling officers to begin their career with an unparalleled level of professionalism.

Highly qualified instructors

The academy staff comprises a cross-section of full-time educators, law enforcement officers, supervisors and administrators who are recognized as leaders in law enforcement training. All staff members are ever-mindful of their role as a model of what is being taught and serve as a mentor to academy students.

Facility tours

We offer potential students or sponsoring agencies a personal tour of our facilities and an opportunity for me to answer any questions that you might have. Our Coordinator, Chris Madson, is also available to personally meet with representatives of sponsoring agencies upon request.
