The Plus 50 initiative at NWTC involves fitting college to the needs of customers who are age 50 and over.
-
Some of us want to start a new career
-
Some need to re-enter the workforce because a previous job disappeared
-
Others are looking for new knowledge or skills to make life more meaningful, or just more fun
Plus 50 includes streamlining some traditional college practices to make it easier for adults to attend.
We can help you find the best learning opportunities with the least hassle; guide you through admissions and financial aid; and connect you with helpful services you may not know about.
Nationwide, the Plus 50 Initiative was created by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to build and share innovative programs at two-year colleges for learners age 50 and up.
Selected colleges participate in the three-year grant to create or expand courses
and services to engage the 50+ population in learning, re-training, and service. Demonstration Colleges, like NWTC, are launching new programs with the help
of seed grants. They are aided with valuable expertise from five Mentor Colleges
that already have established Plus 50 programs. NWTC is one of only 32 colleges
in the U.S. that received Plus 50 Initiative grants in 2010.
