Adjunct Experience  Continues All Semester Long

These Center for Instructional Excellence (CIE) events follow an all-faculty inclusive approach where both benefit eligible and adjunct instructors are welcome to any event at any time. A quick overview of the various event types follows:

ü  Adjunct Tech Blocks – These are technology training sessions scheduled prior to each Adjunct Orientation, the Adjunct In-service, and each of the Thursday Adjunct Experience Professional Development events.  They aim to satisfy your needs in ITV/VC teaching, Online/Blended teaching, Blackboard, PowerPoint, and Camtasia Relay related technology skill needs while keeping in mind your busy work/life schedule and travel costs.

ü  Adjunct Open Labs- These are four hour long open labs where adjunct faculty can get focused, specialized help in building the course syllabi, preparing lesson plans, updating Blackboard course content and accessing PeopleSoft or Library resources. Use of personal laptop computers is encouraged at these events.

ü  Adjunct Experience Professional Development- These evening sessions are one hour long trainings that focus on teaching strategies, difficult student behaviors, affective learning factors, lab project development, questioning techniques, etc. They are held the first Thursday and third Tuesday of every month 5:00-6:00 pm on the Green Bay Campus and are videoconferenced to various Regional Centers.

ü  Adjunct Experience Club Networking- These one hour long non-structured events follow each Adjunct Experience Professional Development training at 6:00-7:00 pm. Here you can meet peers, network with benefit eligible faculty and ask needs based, targeted questions on any teaching related topic. During the Spring 2012 semester, NWTC Guest Speakers will introduce various helpful college resources at the start of each networking session.

ü  CIE Roadshow Regional Site Events-These three hour events take various Center for Instructional Excellence training topics on the road, making them conveniently available at several regional sites.

ü  Discussion Circles with Lori Suddick – These are one hour long daytime opportunities to get updates from and ask questions of the Vice President for Learning, Lori Suddick.

ü  Accelerated Teaching Overview- This is a three hour program geared toward teaching the whole person. It provides a wide variety of creative methods and techniques based on current theories and research on how adults learn best.
