to complete one 10-hour activity and verify at least
330 hours of related employment in each renewal

Joe is an adjunct faculty member in the Business and Informational Technology department teaching three or more occupational courses. This means that he has a
part-time provisional certification. That means he has to take one certification course and verify at least 330

Josie
Josie fills in for another instructor from time to time.
She never goes over 15 hours for a class during
the semester. This means that she does not
need certification.
Jorge
Jorge is an adjunct faculty member in Public Safety.
He is a secondary instructor and never goes over 15
hours for a class during the semester. This means
that he does not need certification.
Joan
Joan looks at all of her Faculty Course Agreements
and notices at the bottom the catalog number for
the course she is teaching. If that catalog number
begins with 4 or 6 she does not need certification.
Jacque
Jacque looks at all of her Faculty Course Agreements
and notices at the bottom the catalog number for the
course she is teaching. If that catalog number begins
with a 1, 3, 5 or 7 then certification is required. What

Philippe
Philippe looks at all of his Faculty Course Agreements and notices at the bottom the catalog numbers of the courses he is teaching. One course begins with a 1. Faculty Course Agreements that begin with a 1, 3, 5 or 7 supersede those beginning with a 4 or 6. Therefore certification is required. What type of certification is required? Jennifer
Jennifer is teaching courses for Corporate Training
and Economic Development (CTED) as an independent contractor/consultant. She is not paid through NWTC.
If she is teaching a course with a catalog number beings with a 1, 3, 5 or 7 then certification is required. What type of certification is required? Please refer to John, Jill or Joe’s scenarios above.
Jonathan
Jonathan is not currently employed in the Wisconsin Technical College System as an adjunct faculty member. He is interested in becoming certified to teach. He finds
the Staff Directory on the website and makes contact with the Dean/Associate Dean in his area of interest. The Dean/Associate Dean will need a resume and possibly a transcript to determine his eligibility for certification. Based on that review and the types of course(s) taught he would follow the scenarios above.
Susan
Susan is an adjunct faculty member who has been teaching in the Wisconsin Technical College System for several years. She has completed all seven certification courses and now holds a 5-year certification license. That means that she will need to complete six credits, or the equivalent, every five years. She should contact Kathy Gouin for more information.
Richard
Richard is an adjunct faculty member who completes all seven of the certification courses before he completed
the equivalent of two years full-time or eight semesters
part-time teaching to satisfy requirement #64 Professional Experience. He needs two semester credits each certification period until #64 is satisfied.
