Enrollment Services Policy and Procedures
Item: Drops/Withdrawals
Revised: 12/14/06
Policy 1.35: Student Drops/Withdrawals (in accordance with process AD88)
Students can officially withdraw from classes during the first two-thirds of the class hours; they will receive a Withdrawn (W) grade. Beyond that time period, the instructor has the discretion to award a “W” or “F” grade.
Procedure:
Enrollment Services will require approval from the instructor (Request to Withdraw Form) to process the official withdrawal.
Students taking an Online class can request withdrawal authorization via e-mail to their instructor. It is the instructor’s discretion to approve or disapprove an official withdrawal (maintaining the “W” grade). If the Online instructor approves, he/she can forward the student’s e-mail request (please include the students ID#, term and class #) to kari.hemb@nwtc.edu or joan.coppens@nwtc.edu for processing. Upon completion of the withdrawal request, the instructor and student will be sent an e-mail confirming it has been processed. This e-mail will include the address the revised Class Schedule was sent to for verification purposes. The approved withdrawal e-mail request will be scanned into the student’s file.
