The hotel and restaurant industry offers many different career paths including hotels, motels, resorts, fast food, fine dining, family restaurants, institutional food service, attractions, amusement parks, and other related fields. One big advantage of a career in this industry is the choices that are available. This industry provides many career opportunities that are exciting, rewarding, and fun. Some advantages unique to the hotel and restaurant industry include:

Variety

The many different types of companies that fall under the hotel and restaurant umbrella offer a large variety of career opportunities. The working conditions, rate of pay, specific duties, and workplace culture vary greatly depending on the size, service level, and ownership structure of a hotel and restaurant business. This variety helps those with a Hotel and Restaurant Management degree "find their niche" and engage in a career that is personally rewarding.

Job Availability

The growth of the hotel and restaurant industry has led to a need for qualified supervisors and managers throughout not only Northeast Wisconsin, but also across the country and even globally. Employment can be found in both small and large cities so a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management does not limit the geographic choices of the graduate.

Supervisors and managers that are well educated and successful in their jobs often have opportunities to advance their careers in higher-level management positions including multi-unit management.
