CLASS DESCRIPTION: This class covers the nature of business writing, business letters, and the job-seeking process, including resumes, cover letters, thank-you letters, and employment interviews.

  • demonstrate understanding of business and technical writing in documents.
  • apply knowledge of writing techniques: sentence structure, grammar, specificity, and organization.
  • demonstrate understanding of purpose, audience, format, and tone while writing business letters.
  • assess personal interests and skills, organize personal data, and plan a job search.
  • utilize job-search resources.
  • write job-seeking documents: resume, cover letter, and after-interview thank-you letter.

CLASS DESCRIPTION: The students will perform signed numbers, order of operations, scientific notation and metric prefixes, calculator operations, algebra and formula evaluation, Ohm’s Law, combination circuits, efficiency, resistance and size of wire, trigonometry for alternation current electricity.

  • Perform arithmetic operations.
  • Convert units of measurement for electricity.
  • Utilize electronic calculators to solve problems pertaining to electricity.
  • Rearrange formulas by solving for the indicated value.
  • Solve series, parallel and combination circuits.
  • Use percentages to determine the efficiency of electrical circuits.
  • Apply ratio and proportion to resistance of wire.
  • Apply trigonometric functions to alternating current electricity.
