Practicum 1 ~ 2 Credits Child Care Center 80 Hours
This is an introductory experience in working in a child care center with pre-school aged children (ages 3-5). You will become familiar with daily schedules and procedures, and how to interact with children during play and routine times, individual and group times.
Practicum 2 ~ 3 Credits Infant Toddler 108 Hours
This practicum is 108 hours, which is about 7 or 8 hours a week. Some students do it one full day a week and others two half days. Each student chooses the days and times along with the instructor’s approval. For this practicum, you will be placed in a child care center working with either infants or toddlers (children ages 6 weeks to 2 years).
Practicum 3 ~ Special Needs 108 Hours
This practicum is 108 hours, which is about 7 or 8 hours a week. Some students do it one full day a week and others two half days. Each student chooses the days and times along with the instructor’s approval. For this practicum, you will be placed in a school or child care center classroom, and work closely with a child who has an identified special need.
Practicum 4 ~ Licensed Childcare Setting, Head Start, Licensed Kindergarten Or Pre-Kindergarten, Or Early Childhood Program In A Public Or Private School 108 Hours
This practicum is 108 hours each, which is about 7 or 8 hours a week. Some students do it one full day a week and others two half days. Each student chooses the days and times along with the instructor’s approval. For this practicum, you will take greater responsibility as a teacher, planning and carrying out a 2 week lesson plan.
