Student Email FAQs
What is the Student e-mail policy?
The entire policy is located under the Student Help link in the upper right hand
corner of the my.NWTC window.
What
is my e-mail address?
Your email address is:
firstname.lastname@mymail.nwtc.edu

Your address is listed in the left hand side of the
Mailbox.

Your address will not be published to the student
body.

Your e-mail account will be deactivated after one
year of inactivity.

All student announcements will be located in the
Announcement box on my.NWTC.

All NWTC Students are to use their NWTC e-mail
address and the NWTC e-mail system for all College business.
How do I
change my password?
Once you log into my.NWTC go to Personal Information box and
click on the change/view personal information button. Click the
password link located under the Security Settings. Note:
Changing your password changes ALL passwords: network, my.NWTC
and e-mail.
Where do I find my instructor's e-mail address?
Look
for the search window on your my.NWTC home page. If the
sender is
S3.support@nwtc.edu, it is an e-mail from a staff member. Do not
reply to this e-mail, rather contact staff directly.
What is my default password? Your default
password is the first two letters of your first name in lowercase followed
by your eight digit student id number.
How do I request more space? That process
is being reviewed at this time.
How do I decrease space used?
Delete the
trash.
What is my quota?
- Your quota and spaced used is listed above your e-mail address on
the left of your mailbox. A visual bar displays amounts used.
- You will receive an automatic awareness e-mail when your quota is
near capacity.
- You will continue to receive e-mails if your quota has been reached,
however, you will not be able to send e-mails.
- Your personal addressbook does not affect your quota.
How do I manually delete trash? In the Trash
view, check the box to select the items to be deleted, click the delete
button, and then click ok to permanently remove selected messages. Anything
sent to trash will be automatically deleted within 14 days.
How do I read attachments?
Click on the
subject link to open the e-mail, click on the attachments link, and click
open to read the attachment.
How do I attach a file or picture to a message?
In your Mailbox, click on the compose link in the upper left hand
corner, address the e-mail to your recipient/s, click on the attachments
link or the paperclip button on the menu bar, click browse and navigate to
your file, click open, click the add button, then click the attach button in
the lower right hand corner (the file will be listed), complete your e-mail
message and then send. Note: Maximum size of the message
including all attachments is 5 MB.
What if I have forgotten my password and cannot log
into the portal? Contact the HelpDesk at 920-498-6900 or
toll-free at 800-422-NWTC ext 6900.
Can I redirect my NWTC e-mail?
The option of redirecting your NWTC e-mail to another e-mail service
such as Hotmail and Yahoo is not available.
How do I create a signature block?
- Under the Options Menu tab, Mail tab, Personal Information window,
there will be a field for a signature.
- Type in your information.
- Graphics are not allowed.
Will my e-mail account be protected from Spam?
- Yes. We are using the software “Ironmail” to protect your
account.
- If you receive a message from Northeast Wisconsin Technical
College-User Quarantine, this will contain your quarantined e-mail.
- To find out more information about Ironmail, check the Student Help
link in the upper right hand corner of the my.NWTC window.
How do I forward an e-mail? Do not ever
use the forward button. Use the forward inline button to
forward the original message with the attachment.
How do I log out?
It is good
practice to logout of your accounts at NWTC. Click the logout link at
the top of the NWTC Mail window. This will bring you to the original login
window, then close that window. Then sign out of my.NWTC and close all
windows.
