| Q. What is Technical
College of the Air (TCA)?
A. A TCA class is a 3 credit class which can be taken
at home with the use of textbooks and video.
Q. Is there an instructor
available for questions?
A. Yes, each class has an instructor available to answer questions
and concerns.
Q. When do classes start?
A. Video classes have open registration which means a student
can start on the semester start date or anytime during the
semester. However, the end date for the semester is the same
whether you start on the first day of the semester or in the
middle of the semester. We do not allow longer to finish if
you sign up later. Note: We stop taking registrations 3
weeks prior to the end of each semester.
Q. When do classes end?
A. NWTC has three terms: fall, spring, and summer. You have two semesters/terms to complete your Technical College of the Air (TCA) course. Since NWTC has open entry into TCA courses, the semester you sign up in is considered semester one; the next semester is semester two. You must complete the course by the end of two consecutive semesters. (Class credits count only for the semester in which you enrolled.)
Q. How do I get textbooks?
A. Textbooks may be picked up at any NWTC campus bookstore.
If you are not near a campus location, books can be ordered
from the Green Bay campus bookstore and mailed directly to
you for a small fee. You can also order textbooks online at http://mybooks.nwtc.edu.
Q. How do I get videos?
A. Videos are available at all NWTC campus libraries and many public libraries. If the locations are not convenient for the student, we also have a mail out system which operates from the NWTC Library on the Green Bay campus (920-498-5493, 1-800-422-NWTC ext. 5493, or tcavideo@nwtc.edu). When requesting mailed videos, students should indicate their name, student ID number, the TCA course(s) they are taking, the lessons they need, and their preference for DVD or VHS (if applicable). NWTC does not charge to mail out videos, however return postage must be paid by the student.
Q. How do I get my class work?
A. Information packets are mailed to each student registered
for a class. The packet will include an intermation sheet, a syllabus/outline, exams and assignments,
scantron sheets for the exams, an evaluation, and return envelopes.
Q. How do I submit exams
and assignments?
A. Return envelopes are included in the packet of information
each student receives once they have registered.
Q. How do I receive exam
and assignment results?
A. Exam and assignment results are mailed back to each student
once they have been graded by the instructor.
Q. How do I register?
A. You can register
at any NWTC campus location, by phone, by Internet,
by mail, or by Phone-in, or by contacting your local outreach
coordinator (see locations).
Note: We stop taking registrations 3 weeks prior to the
end of each semester. |
