Manufacturers to Explore Lean through Automation & Robotics

Renowned Expert Part of Regional Symposium

Automation and robotics have become key players in the implementation of lean for many small- and medium-sized manufacturers, helping optimize work flow and process efficiencies.

The application of this technology into manufacturing operations is the focus of the Leveraging Lean Through Automation & Robotics Manufacturing Symposium on Wednesday, May 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The symposium will be offered live and simulcast in five locations, including the Student Center at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College - Green Bay.

Four presentations will highlight the symposium:

  • The Case for Automation, presented by Dr. Henrik Christensen, KUKA Chair of Robotics and Professor of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology;
  • Practical Applications for Automation and Robotics, presented by Jody Zepnick of Zepnick Solutions, Inc.;
  • How to Finance Automation & Robotics, presented by Norm Roller, Principal at Suby, Von Haden & Associates, S.C.;
  • Regional Manufacturers Roundtable discussion.

Dr. Christensen is a renowned expert on robotics with an emphasis on optimizing value streams. He has published more than 250 contributions across robotics, vision, and artificial intelligence, in addition to participating in projects in three continents.

The symposium is ideal for manufacturers interested in automation and robotics, regardless of whether or not lean processes are currently used. Participants can interact with the speakers during the symposium.

Registration will occur between 7:15 and 8:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast. The registration fee is $50. Go to http://wls.nwtc.edu/mfgsymposium to register.
