Nationally-recognized speaker Olga Trujillo, a child abuse and sexual assault survivor, will share her personal story and offer insight into the impact of violence and her journey to heal in an upcoming presentation at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
“The Impact of Physical and Sexual Abuse: A Journey Revealed, Featuring Olga Trujillo,” will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, Thursday, April 10, 2008, in the Center for Business & Industry on the NWTC Green Bay campus. This seminar is intended for crisis care workers, mental health workers, social service agency employees, members of faith-based community services, health clinicians, educators, emergency service personnel, and other individuals concerned about physical and sexual abuse.
Through her presentation, Trujillo will unravel the impact of violence on her life and share her healing story of survival. Seminar attendees will learn to:
- Gain an understanding of how childhood trauma can lead to re-victimization
- Understand the complexities of how victims respond to sexual violence
- Understand why a survivor may not always appear the way people might expect

About the Presenter
Olga Trujillo, J.D., is an independent consultant, nationally recognized speaker, survivor, and attorney dedicated to enhancing understanding of – and building effective responses to – violence against women and children.
Her career began in the early nineties at the U.S. Department of Justice. For four years, she served as general counsel to the Office of Justice Programs, the youngest woman and only Latina to ever hold this position. In 1995, Trujillo joined the Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime as legal counsel, and subsequently became a director of the special projects division.
Truillo’s rare combination of personal experience and professional skills compelled her to create O.R.T. Solutions in 2001. O.R.T.’s mission is to help provide comprehensive, thought provoking and innovative approaches to child abuse, domestic abuse, sexual assault, immigration, and human trafficking issues.
