SHEET METAL APPRENTICESHIP
|
| In the building industry, the
Sheet Metal, Electrical, Steamfitting and Plumbing trades
are called the mechanical trades. Skilled Sheet Metal works,
although they do not actually erect the structure, add to
its functional parts and materials such as gutters, down spouts,
chimney flashings, cornices and ducting for heating, ventilating
and air conditioning. These workers may also do architectural
and decorative metal work. |

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPRENTICESHIP:
Education: High school graduates or GED® (submit copy)
Age: 18 or high school graduate at 17, no maximum
Test: Available at employer request
Assessment
math and reading tests/NWTC
License: Valid driver's license (submit copy)
Application: Application for the trade(special, see
below) |
| LENGTH OF CONTRACT - 5 years of not less than
10,000 hours n OJT - 7,500 hours of work with a skilled craftsperson
as per Exhibit "A" n Paid-Related Instruction (Day) - 500
hours and successful completion of class material n Non-Paid
Related Instruction (Night) - 300 hours (80% attendance of
each class to receive credit) |
HOW TO APPLY
n Complete the application form for the trade and meet the
qualifications as stated above. n Meet with the Committee
for an applicant interview, and, if qualified, receive a Letter
of Introduction |
