As a result of Northeast Wisconsin's support
of NWTC's referendum, several new buildings have been completed
since 2001 to meet the immediate and long-term needs of employers
for additional skilled employees.
The Health Sciences Center provides additional space for
hundreds of students and state-of-the-art equipment in nursing,
dental, and allied health specialties.
The new Building and Construction Trades Center allows
students to construct fullscale buildings, to collaborate
with students in other programs, and to continue their education
beyond graduation day.
The Manufacturing and Technology Center offers flexible
space where students in many industries can use high-tech
equipment to learn about the interconnected electrical, electronic
and mechanical systems which are the hallmark of modern manufacturing.
The Student Center, completed in spring 2004, offers
new, high-tech science labs, an expanded library, and streamlined
services for students.
The Multicultural/International
Resource Center, offers both study and gathering space
for students from diverse backgrounds. Information about various
cultures and news from other countries are available to help
both minority and majority culture students enrich their education.
The Center also offers information about NWTC in the Hmong
and Spanish languages.
The
Center for Business and Industry (CB) building serves as
the headquarters for Regional
Learning Services and for
the contracted Workplace
Learning Services. The upper level provides classrooms
for business-related instruction, and flexible meeting space
with multi-media capabilities. It is the center for many
nontraditional delivery systems, including Certificate Options,
off-campus courses, customized courses and services for
business, and evening and weekend offerings. The lower level
offers a health center, facilities for police training,
and science labs.
The Public Saftey Training
Center offer specialized training centers for police,
firefighters, EMTs and other emergency responders. The
new Tactical Training Center, modeled after the FBI's facility
in Quantico, allows multi-disciplinary professional training
in a fully customized environment. The Cinetronic Firing
Range is used to train police and corrections officers
to resolve threats with the lowest effective use of force.
(It is one of a handful of ranges in the world that have
already incorporated the interactive video training technology,
attracting visits by law enforcement officials from Canada,
Great Britain, Russia, and China, and across the United
States.) In the three-story burn tower, fire departments
can practice fire-fighting and lifesaving techniques in
blinding smoke and temperatures above 400 degrees, while
remaining in a structurally safe environment.
